Abstract Desires is the first release from BLSHS (pronounced “Blushes”), a Houston-based synthpop trio that combines a southern twist of 808-heavy beats, lush synthesizers, and hauntingly powerful and heartfelt vocals. BLSHS’ debut EP features six tracks.

The first single from the EP, “Blushes”, sets the tone with its roaming bass line, ambient synth accents, and drums your sub-woofer would be proud of. “Blushes’” soft and stirring vocals describe a state of emotional uncertainty that is both engaging and relatable.

Up-tempo tracks “Chased by Memories” and “Another Tuesday” offer intricate instrumentation, dance-worthy beats, and candidly poignant vocals. Relaxing the album’s pace to a slow groove, “Gave It Away” offers riding bass lines, smooth synths, and lyrics that tell a story of lost love and the familiar imprint of emptiness that is left behind. Abstract Desires’ most danceable tracks, “If I Fall” and “Runaway” end the EP on a high note.

Closing the EP in epic fashion, “Runaway” is sure to get your feet moving. This song is highlighted by its four-on-the-floor drums, gleaming synths, and powerfully emotive vocals. BLSHS’ music evokes emotion that will grab hold of your heart and drag it to the dance floor.
