ЛаВерн, Мэксин и Пэтти – три дочери Питера Эндрюза (греческого эмигранта) и Ольги Солли (эмигрантки из Норвегии), хозяев небольшого греческого кафе в Миннеаполисе, начали свою артистическую карьеру очень рано – уже в 1920 году девятилетняя ЛаВерн и четырёхлетняя Мэксин начали выступать на местном радио, а через пару лет они уже были хорошо известны во всех окрестных домах престарелых и госпиталях благодаря своим регулярным выступлениям перед ветеранами.
В начале 30-х годов образовалось трио Сестёр Эндрюз. Пэтти, ведущее сопрано, представала перед публикой «веселушкой». Мэксин, второе сопрано, «уверенной в себе девушкой», а ЛаВерн – контральто, олицетворяла «серьёзность». Девушки не знали нот, но могли повторить любую песню после одного-двух прослушиваний.
В конце тридцатых и начале сороковых трио «Сёстры Эндрюз» являлось одним из основных представителей американского шоу-бизнеса – за период с 1938 по 1951 годы они записали около 2000 композиций и продали более 90 миллионов пластинок, рекорд, который до сих пор не побила ни одна вокальная женская группа. Сёстры записывались и выступали с эстрадными звёздами того периода – Бингом Кросби, Лесом Полом, Бёрлом Айвсом, Дэнни Кэем, Кармен Мирандой, Гаем Ломбардо, Эрнестом Таббсом, оркестром Гленна Миллера. Кроме того, они снялись в 17 фильмах, в том числе озвучив и диснеевских мультипликационных персонажей.
Конец сороковых годов – период снижения популярности трио. В 1951 году сёстры официально объявили о распаде группы. Затем последовали сольные выступления Пэтти и Мэксин. Повторное воссоединение в 1956 году, затем снова сольные карьеры… . Однако, вершина популярности ЛаВерн, Мэксин и Пэтти осталась уже далеко в 30-х – 40-х годах.
